Vashnid City, Druinguard

Cameron walked the streets of the city to which Nova had pinpointed. The ride had been one of the most agonizing experiences in his life, and he fully intended to catch a ride on Nova's ship home, if it meant that he had to steal it. Then again, when Nova asks for help, you never will know if you will be going home again.

And what did she mean when she said that this was a chance to learn the truth? He knew that she was hiding something, but what could it possibly be that it had tempted him to come to this hellpit.

As he continued down the road, something strange came to him. There was something not right. This was a city, and it had a landing station in it. Yet why was it so quiet? No children on the streets, autoships zooming overhead. The town was submerged in a deep silence, quiet. Too quiet. The calm before the storm.

He turned the corner, and entered a small refreshment store. The door was unlocked, and the lights on. A neon sign telling people that the store sold candy at up to half-price flickered. Slowly, he walked down the short aisles, holding up his rifle, the only sound the thudding of his boot on the polished floor.

He walked on past the empty counter, when a sound, coming from the other end of the store caught his attention. Swearing under his breath, he loaded his gun, and approached the source of the sound...

oe cursed under her breath she slid down the wall, watching a man aproach. She brought her gun to her face and silently loaded it, wondering if this man was friend or foe.
She stood up and peeked around the corner, then stepped out and raised the weapon to aim at his head.

The moment the girl stepped out, Cameron had his rifle trained on her forehead. He was unsurprised to see that they wielded a gun, nor that she was a girl. "Put the gun down kid, and we'll take things from there."

Poe stood up straighter and started to lower the gun, then looks around and raises it again. "There is only one of you here...or do you have a double nature?"

Giving the girl a slightly puzzled glance, Cameron said, "What, you think I have thugs chasing me around? Drop the gun." He indicated her weapon with the point of his rifle impatiently.

Poe giggled for a second, then resumed her stoic face. She stuck her tonuge out impudently. "You never said please." She tightened her finger on the trigger but lowered the gun slightly.

"That's a start. Now I want you to drop the weapon. If you weren't just a little girl, you'd be dead by now. Cooperation." Cameron decidedly thought that from here, he would force her into obeying.

Poe heard what he said and got furious. "A little girl my eye." She mutteredly darkly as she put her gun in its holster. "Just watch it mister...I'm still dangerous, because you don't know what I can do." Poe held out her hand to him. And i would appreciate it if you called my by my name."

"I would appreciate it if I had a name to call." Cameron lowered his gun, looking the girl in the eye.

Poe knelt down and tied her boot. "My name is Poetae, but call me Poe." She stood up. "And you are?"

"Call me Cameron." Sighing, he slung his rifle over his shoulder again, however did not lower his caution. "So what is a kid like you doing in this place with a gun?"

"I'm not a kid...I'm 16...and I don't really know what I'm doing here." Poe said, scratching the wall. "I think I've ionly been here a few days."

Cameron laughed in his mind when hearing her age. He had actually thought her to be older. "Only been here a few days? Where do you come from?"

"Yes, only a few days. I come from many different places....I don't really know where it was I came from, but all I remember was a bright light, then nothing." Poe sighed and sat on some debris nearby. "No, wait, I lied on accident, I turned 17 last week."

A bright light...? Cameron wondered. Sounded odd, like something Nova would know about. He had never thought he would ever wish she were here... Snapping back to attention, he replied, "Easy to lose track of time now, isn't it? Especially if you're a wanderer..."

Poe stood up and looked around, suddenly wary. "Some one is here"

Cameron turned to face the direction in which Poe was looking, his gun raised in a flash and sweeping the area. "Who's there?" he called out. No use trying to hide, they probably already noted their every detail.

Poe went pale when she saw something move to the right. Shecrouched down and shifted into a large wolf and bounded off after the creature. No use hiding! She thought in a sing song voice at the creature. Come out, come out, wherever you are!! She stopped and raised her head, sniffing the air.

Cameron was so shocked that for nearly a whole minute, he stood frozen with his mouth dropped. Recovering himself enough to be able to think, he wondered how this could be possible. Yes, he must be dreaming, he concluded. In his mind however he knew what he had seen.

Poe caught onto a scent and took off, following it. Her eyes went from amber to blood-red when she caught the creature in her vision. She stopped and howled, throwing her head back and closing her eyes. She lepaed at the creature and caught it at the back of the neck and shook it, rendering it unconcious. She brought it back to the man and set it at his feet. She turned back into her human-like form and leaned casualy against the wall. "You know, you never told me your name."

Giving Poe a look of mixed horror and shock, Cameron spoke, "What are you? What... How did you do that?" He secretly cursed Nova. Cursed her for having sent him to this strange place without bothering to show up.

Poe just shrugged. "I don't know...I've always been able to do that." She looked down and a tear coursed down her cheek. "I'm sorry if it scares you, Sir. I won't do it again."

Watching the girl cry, Cameron mentally swore to himself. Why did she have to cry? At a loss of what to do, he said softly, "No, it's fine." Please stop crying... "Just that I've never seen anyone be able to do that before. Not exactly what you call your everyday talent."

Poe sniffed and rubbed her eyes with her sleeve. "I know...I guess I'm just waiting to find someone who doesn't freak when I do that. I think its the main reason I was forced here...I didn't want to leave where I was before." She looked around. "Wherever that is..." She sighed and sat crosslegged by the creature and pulled it onto her lap. "What is this, anyway?"

"It's a Plague... I wonder how it got here..." Summing up the occured events, Cameron concluded, "Great. This place is infested."

Poe petted the creatures head, looking at it curiously. She pulled something akin to a glass vial from in between two scales. She handed it up to Cameron. "What is this?"

"Don't touch it!" Cameron hissed in alarm. Then, fearing that Poe would drop it, quickly added, "Put it down carefully." Tell truth, he had no idea as to what it was. But if it was from a Plague, he wasn't going to risk finding out. He began to back away slowly.

Poe set it down carefuly and stared at it. "Interesting." She murmured. She looked at Cameron backing off. She started to stand up.

Looking closer at the blue liquid in the vial, Cameron tried to place where he had seen such a thing before. Eyes widening as it came into place, he shouted, "RUN!" and began to bolt for the door. Sure enough, the Plague grasped the glass piece in its claw, ready to break it.

Poe tried to run, but found she couldn't. "IT HAS MY ARM!!" She yelled. She grabbed a peice of debris and aimed a kick for its head. "GET OUT OF HERE!!" She looked down and saw the creature clining to her legs as well. "RUN!!"

Hesitating for a moment(to his own surprise), Cameron ran out the door of the shop, leaping behind an empty autoship for cover. Covering his head with his arms, he waited for the explosion to come.

Poe watched Cameron run from the shop and turned to face the creature, who still had the vial in its claws. "What are you giong to do with that? Whatever it is, if it doesn't effect you, then it really shouldn't effect me, becuase I'm friends with Pup, the old dragon...You know Pup at all?" She continued to talk to the creature until it put the vial back in between its scales and sat back on its hainches to look at her with big blue-green eyes. She hesitantly reached out to touch its head, and the creature raised it to meet her hand. Poe smiled and petted its scales. "What do you want from me, little...creature...thing...?"

The young Plague looked up at the girl, taking in her scent in curiosity. What she said about Pup made the creature curious instead of feral. It approached the girl after putting the vial back and moved to her hand when she reached out. Being petted was an entirely new sensation, a good feeling. It made a slight purring sound in content and looked up att Poe.

Poe grinned and stood up. "Want to come with me? I'm going to find the other human i was with." She held out her hand to the creature, seeing if it wanted to come.

The creature tilted its head and made a soft whistling sound before nodding. It went up to her hand and jumped, landing on Poe's shoulder and snuggled there, shivering. She creature looked into Poe's eyes and its belly rumbled, hungry and empty.

Poe giggled and walked out of the door and to the man crouched down and covering his head. She touched him with her foot. "Hello? You okay?"

Cameron stared up at the girl in confusion, "What happened to the bomb? Didn't it go off yet?"

The creature looked over Poe's shoulder at Cameron, tilting it's head and growling quietly. It sniffed the air and sneezed, unaccustomed to the smells of the city.

Swearing under his breath, Cameron raised his gun at the creature, ready to shoot it down.

Poe raised her gun at the man's head and tightened her finger on the trigger, ready to shoot should he shoot the creature on her sholder. "Don't touch it. It's a friend, not foe. Lower your gun." Poe's eyes turned a deadly blue as she waited for him to do so.

Considering turning his gun on the girl for a moment, he sighed as he released the weapon. What could this be about? Was she an ally of the Plague? Or was it really harmless? Either way, I'm screwed...

Poe smiled and lowered hers as well. "Are you okay? You look like you cut your head when you fell or something." She knelt down to his face level and examined his face. "It's bleeding." She said.

As Poe knelt down next to Cameron's face, the creature jumped off of her shoulder and landed on his back. It climbed up onto his shoulder and looked at his face where the blood was. The creature whistled softly and made a small whining sound at the sight of blood.

Poe gasped and quickly picked the creature up off of the man's back, sensing that he really didn't like to be touched by anything. She cuddled the creature close and whispered to it. "I think we should stay away from him for a while...I have a feeling he's a grumpy man who really doesn't like to be touched at all." She scratched the creatures head and smiled. "You need a name, little one. Hmmm...." She thought about a name for the creature. "How about Regina? It means 'Queen' in Latin. Or are you a boy? We could go with Regis...it means 'King'..." What do you think?"

"...........Regis..." Regis looked up at Poe and mewed quietly at her. He purred and cuddled back to her, enjoying being petted by soft hands. He looked back at Cameron and hissed at him while snuggling closer to Poe for warmth.

Poe giggled and ran her hand down the small creatures back. "Well then, Regis...meet Mr. Mysterious...He hasn't told me his name yet, so I don't know how to introduce you two." Poe turned and walked down the street in the opposite direction, wandering around. "Are you coming?" She yelled at the man from over her shoulder. She spoke to Regis. "Do you know your way around here at all?" She waited for Regis and the man as she stuck her hand into her pocket and pulled out a locket and opened it, looking inside.

"I already told you you can call me Cameron. Or do you want my first name too?" he asked caustically. Inside he thought of the odd behavior of the Plague. Perhaps the fact that it was young made it more coorperative. If Plague hatchlings could infact be domesticated, this would be a discovery invaluable to humans. Or maybe this particular one just felt a liking for the girl... Shaking his head to get rid of the thoughts, he followed after Poe. "Say, have you by any chance met a girl about a few years older than you around here?"

Poe didn't turn to him as she continued to look at her locket. "No, i haven't. Why?" She smirked. "You lose your girlfriend or something? Or did she run out on you?"

Regis tilted his head at Cameron and at Poe's statement about losing a girlfriend he made a soft sound that sounded a bit like a laugh. Then he looked at the locket that Poe was looking at and reached out a curious claw to touch it.

Poe winced but kept the locket still. "Those are my parents on this side, and my siblings on the other side." She pointed to the right side, then the left.

Regis whined softly in sadness and nuzzled Poe, trying to comfort. Then he trilled and licked Poe's face playfully, his tail wagging slightly.

Poe giggled and put Regis down on the ground and knelt beside him. She scratched his head and smiled, assuming a playful possition. "Want to play?"

Cameron frowned impatiently. He didn't have time for this. Where the hell was Nova?

Poe glanced up and saw Cameron's face. She stood up. "Okay then...no playing right now..." She looked around. "Hey, if you need to go find someone, then go find them...you don't need to hang around for our sakes." With that, she turned and went back into the building, motioning to Regis for him to follow. "Catch ya on the flip side, I guess. Later Cameron."

Regis looked at Poe leaving then looked over at Cameron and whined quietly. He looked back and forth until he decided to go with Poe, who was a wee bit more friendly to him. Regis trotted over and caught up with Poe and jumped up onto her shoulder and draped himself over and around her neck, looking a bit like a scaled scarf.

Poe sighed and petted his head.

Exhaling loudly, Cameron gave up trying to guess where Nova could be. If she wanted to find him, she could work for all he cared. Turning, he began to walk towards Poe.

Poe smirked and kept on walking. If he wanted to follow her, he would have to work at it. Poe looked around for the toughest way into the building. Seeing none, she began to climb the side of it, using claws that retracted when she wasn't using them.

Cameron frowned as he watched the girl skillfully scale the wall. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but shut it once more. He continued staring, waiting to see if she had a point in going this way, or was just killing time like he suspected.

Regis hooked his claws carefully into Poe's cloths as she started climbing as to not fall off. He looked down at where Cameron stood waiting and whistled at him, wanting him to follow.

Poe smirked down at Cameron as she perched on the edge of the roof. "Are you coming or not?" She stood up and crossed her arms, waiting.

Scowling, he began to make his way up the building, using the drainpipe for support. He wondered why people kept such things even at this point of time. You'd have thought that they came up with a better idea by now. He scaled the wall with fair ease, as though he had be trained fr such activity, then swung his legs onto the roof. He stood waiting for her to make a move.

Poe rolled her eyes and dropped through a hole in the roof to the floor below.

Cameron sighed and followed after her. Teenagers, and girls. The two things he happenly hated the most. He pulled out and readied his rifle before jumping down, however. Precaution was priority, and Poe's recklessness could get her killed.

Poe smirked and crouched on a table, waiting for Cameron.

Approaching her at a leisurely pace, Cameron asked, "What's the hurry? Is there somewhere you gotta be?"

Regis sniffed the air of the room and sneezed from the dust. Then he looked over at where Cameron was slowly walking towards them and growled at him before turning back to Poe and nudging her cheek with his snout.

Poe looked away. "Yeah...but I can't get there...I don't even know where here is so I can get there..."
